Be DIVINE!

it's been some time since i have posted. mainly because i just haven't had the time and been concentrating on some wonderful experiences and opportunities. i will elaborate more later.

every year (for the past 9) i have dedicated myself to a very worthy cause called "Divine Design" - an event benefiting Project Angel Food (www.angelfood.org). this year looks to be a great event. They have received a record $4 million in donations and it will be available to everyone! tonight is the VIP gala and regular shopping days are Friday (Nov. 30) through Monday Dec. 3.

please check out www.divinedesign.org and come on out and support the community! i will be there tonight, tomorrow, during the day saturday, sunday afternoon/evening, and monday night. i will be at my usual supervising post at the cashier area.

for those who know, it has been held for several years at the Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport. when Macy's bought RobinsonsMay, the beautiful old May Co. building located next to the Beverly Hilton went vacant. last year Angel Food was able to secure it for the event and one last time for this year! It truly makes the place function like a department store and i promise you a lot of fun.

so come one, come all and if you do, be sure to come visit me!

love and cheer

Welcome to the world of AGEL!!!!!!!!!!

Hello!

Some of you may (or may not remember) a couple of months ago you were asked to come over to my place to check out this new business venture I got involved in.

The turnout was great, for those who were able to make the drive. Bit if you didn't, I want you to take a moment and review something for me. I am going to give you a website that has some links of some short videos to watch. This is something I jumped into and of course got so busy that I wasn't able to go full force. The good thing about that is it has given me the time to use these product and fall in love.

There is virturally something for everyone. You'll know what I am referring to once you take a look. But, because I am all about sharing my experiences, here are some:

OHM: i use every afternoon for energy
FIT: before dinner to control how much i eat
FLX: before i workout to help my joints
MIN: every morning for my dosage of vitamins and minerals
EXO: for a heavy dose of anti-oxidants especially when i am feeling icky
PRO: right after my daily workout (20 grams of pure protein)

Not to mention my father is using the HRT for his well, heart. My sister is using the UMI for the flucoidan (google this if you don't know what this is). And with the launch of the new skincare line, my kit has just arrived and I have been using the night cream and feel and look great in the morning!

I don't want to say anymore just yet. All that I ask, as a favor to me, is that you please go to the link I am about to give you and check it out. Then, either reply to this email or give me a call to ask any questions that you may have. I have built up a wealth of knowledge on this company and I am very excited to be a part of it.

I look forward to hearing from you. And again, I hope you are well and life is good!

5.6 quake hits bay area

my family is safe and all is well. but i was worried.

ALUM ROCK, Calif. -- A moderate earthquake shook the San Francisco Bay area Tuesday night, but there was no immediate word on any damage or injuries.
The quake had a preliminary magnitude of 5.6 and struck shortly after 8 p.m., about 9 miles northeast of San Jose, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The California Highway Patrol has received no reports of damage or injuries, spokesman Tom Marshall said.

Residents reported feeling the quake, which lasted about a minute, as far east as Sacramento and as far north as San Rafael, north of San Francisco.
The quake was centered in the foothills east of San Jose, not far from the home of the city's mayor, Chuck Reed. His home wasn't damaged, and he alerted staff members by text message only seconds after the rumblings began, said Reed's spokeswoman, Michelle McGurk.
The city hadn't received any reports of damage, McGurk said.
"Nothing so far. The mayor's fine. His home's fine, City Hall is fine," McGurk said. "We are getting assessments from city staff, and as soon as we know if there's any damage we'll be responding."
Rod Foo, a resident of south San Jose, about 10 miles from the epicenter, said everything in his house shook for several seconds, but the electricity never went out and his telephone was still working.
"I could hear it coming up the street before it hit the house," said Foo, a former reporter with the San Jose Mercury News. "I thought it was the kids messing around at first, then I felt the house shaking and I knew it was an earthquake. ... It was rattling for a long time and really loud."
Allison Guimard, 25, a technology executive who lives in Mountain View, about 18 miles west of the epicenter, said her china started shaking and she grabbed a dog. It was the first significant earthquake for she and her husband, Pierre, who moved here from New York six months ago.
"It felt like the apartment was rolling -- shaking and rolling," said Pierre Guimard, 25, a home entertainment installer. "Almost like a boat on the water."
A woman who lives in the Santa Teresa area, near Oakridge Mall said it shook her house. She said it felt like a hammer slammed into the house four times.
The house had many frames on the wall that swayed and were left askew, but no damage, she told NBC11. She also said the shaking created a wake in her swimming pool.
There were also reported of burst water pipes and some cracks in the walls in south San Jose.
Pacific Gas and Electric told NBC11 there were no power outages associated to the earthquake.
A NBC11 viewer from Manteca said they felt like someone kicked the back of their couch and their fireplace tools started swaying. Their daughter in Stockton said her furniture actually moved with her in it by the shaking.
Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were stopped for five minutes after the quake occurred, said BART spokesman Linton Johnson. Standard protocol for BART trains is to have the operators start running the trains again but only at half speed.
The operators will drive slowly while looking out the window for damage on the tracks, said Johnson.
Fire stations in San Francisco manually rolled up their garage doors as a precaution, NBC11 reported.

Wednesday

i realized something a few minutes ago: life is really good right now. of course it can always be better. but, i really can't complain about anything. i mean, i know i can and i am sure i will find something to complain about, but really, i am in a peaceful state right now.

if you are reading this right now, please just take a second and reflect on what is good. you got out of bed this morning and you will get back into bed tonight. ......ohm.......ohm........ohm........

oh wait, i still don't have a damn cleaning lady. so i guess that would be something to b*tch about.

cheers
b

words of reflection

i received an email this morning from my friend in santa cruz about a neighbor who has cancer. there was a line that was in the email that moved me enough to share it with everyone:

"Cancer teaches us that living is a verb. It is an action word. Living is seeing, doing, feeling, saying, touching, smelling, tasting. It is climbing and it is occasionally falling. It is not a waiting word. Don’t wait to live until you have accomplished a desired outcome. Starting right now, grab every minute of living out of each and every day."

couldn't have more truth if it hit me in the face, which sometimes things have to.

have a great day.

i REALLY NEED HELP!

okay so i have lost yet another cleaning lady. i don't get it. maybe she got annoyed the last time i was working from home and she came to clean and i followed her around with a checklist. but i digress.

if anyone has a cleaning lady that they trust, speaks english, and will clean my apartment for $40 every three weeks, then let me know. many of you know that i like to clean before the cleaning lady comes. so it won't be a hard job - but i do have my list!

cheers

how agel are you?

so about amonth ago i got involved in a new network marketing venture. many of you know:

a) i like to network
b) i am a marketer

so, why not combine the two? thanks to my friend stacy and her fiance, we have joined forces to form our own business called AGEL Enterprise. we are independant reps for the company. think about AVON, Mary Kay, and whatever other kinds of products you have purchased in the past from a friend or a friend of a friend.

no, it's not a pyramid. it's not a scam. we are making real money from it. it's makes it easy when the product is fantastic and i use it everyday. the company has developed what is called "suspension gel technology" and has an entire line of supplements to promote good health. all natural ingrediants like "fucoidan" (google it and see for yourself), others have essential vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, natural energy, etc. there are even ones for your heart and joints (which i took after spin class last night!)

i am so impressed with the marketing of this company and being it is only two years old, i wanted to get it on it now rather than later since i always "miss the boat" on opportunity.

i welcome you to visit www.agel.com and view the product line. the company launched this week a line of skin care products! i am anxiously awaiting my shipment. the stuff is going to blow anything on the market out of the water.

if you are interested in trying the products, want to join me in the opportunity, or just have questions, contact me today. it's worth the time to look into. if you know me then you know i am not a "fly by night" type of person and being entrepreneurial, i am always looking for new opportunity.

have a great day!

I am 30!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly i must be aging fast if it's taking me over a week to write about my bday. be sure to see the link to the photos below. they are pretty funny and if were one of the surprisingly many who showed up to, well, surprise me then you will enjoy them.

Stacy rolled into town on Friday (when I made my last post). We had our kick off business reception at the house and it went very well. Thank you to those who attended. If you did not attend and would like to know what I am referring to, send an email to: brandon@bgdcreative.com and reference "more info on PBR"

That evening we cruised down to Fred 62's with RIO, Jenni and Stacy's old roommate. Had a good time. IT WAS POURING DOWN RAIN! When I say POURING, I mean POURING!!!

Saturday morning Stacy and Robin took me to the San Antonio Winery for a lovely brunch and wine tasting. That place is so beautiful! Wine isn't too bad either. Of course I bought some...

That afternoon I was told that I can sit at home and await the next surprise or sit with a blind fold in the car. I decided to go with Robin to Solar's 1 year bday. This little girl is ALMOST as cute as baby Wyla, almost. We had a grand time munching on cucumber and cream cheese sandwiches and enjoying a lovely Australian red.

I got home at 6 pm. Had 90 minutes to get ready for dinner. Stacy called me from the car as she was pulling into the driveway (i need my garage opener back honey), and surprised me yet again. The trunk was full of luggage. Next thing I know, my friend Liz comes out to shout "SURPRISE!" I was so happy to see her. She moved to Nashville a couple of years ago and have only seen her a couple of times since then. She looks fabulous and it was truly a great surprise.

After that subsided we got dolled up for dinner at the Dresden, but not without cracking open a bottle. I just love that place. I can go there every night. The restaurant is great although on this particular evening the food was sub-par. Robin, Jenni, Stacy and Liz and I had a great time at dinner. We spent a lot of time talking about Liz's match.com dates over the years. It's a shame I never put my friend Erica in Newport and Liz together when she lived in Huntington Beach. What a loss. They are one in the same.

Anyway, slowly but surely (to my surprise), friends started showing up at the Dresden, just as we were finishing dinner! Imagine running into a lot of your friends like that. Well, SURPRISE! A party got started. We moved into the lounge to take in some Marty and Elaine. It was great to see so many people I hadn't seen in a long time. Everyone looked great, as did I. RIO dropped me off home at the end of the night and was safely snoring by 2:30.

Sunday morning (my actual birthday), Taku came and picked up Liz, Stacy and I and we had a fabulous brunch at the Edendale. Crabcakes benedict. I was happy as dinners there haven't proven worthy, except when we went for KLowe's a couple of weeks earlier. After brunch we went to see WICKED at the Pantages. Best show ever. I feel like I can say that as I go to the thearte and take in several events a month. I just loved it. After the show we went to the El Coyote. I threw one down for Pamela and Cheryl met us there for a couple of house margs.

It was then home again as we were a little tired. Taku came over to join Stacy and I in some sprinkles (say it like Jesse Bethune), cupcakes. We ate six out of seven. Shortly after that I was asleep on my usual makeshift bed (the sofa). Stacy followed suit and we were done for the night.

It really was a great bday. One of the best ever. I wished Taku would have been at the party Saturday night as I know he worked really hard with Stacy to plan it. But I hope he knows it was the best because of him.

I love you all and thank you for making getting older such an amazing time. Check out some of the pictures here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/76228047@N00/sets/72157602233391833. Once I get the others from the weekend I will try to get them up.

Enjoy and ciao for now!

Damien Rice at the Greek

tonight was a great show. i saw damien rice at the greek and as i have said in the past, i love the ability to drink a bottle of wine and walk up to the greek with two hot chicks.

it broke my heart that taku wasn't able to go. i gave the ticket to la chona and jenni, la chona and i had a great time. he is so freakin amazing.

i had expected to run into regan (my ex for those who don't know) but didn't. so many songs reminded me of him but it's all good because i am strong! he was there but didn't hear from him.

TGIF and birthday concert #2

although i only worked a three day week, it feels like it was the longest one ever. left my cell phone at home today and that was a mess.

went to pick up pamela's mail at the post office and because i didn't put the key in the new car the lovely government employee told me ever so politely that i couldn't get it because my name wasn't on it. lame.

tonight taku took me to see the perishers at the knitting factory. never been there before. i actually think it's a sweet place. the last time i was at that venue it was a pacific thearte, anne heche was there with her new man and traffic was in theatres. anyway...

the show was great. it was short, but great. i really like them. check them out on iTunes. we walked over to hollywood and highland after and had beared papa. a nice treat. klowe was at the gym which was right there but of course missed her. so i am ending the evening watching rick and steve on LOGO and updating myspace and this blog. pretty sweet huh?

happy september! (16 more days until 30)

The Ennis House Returns to Los Feliz

For the past couple of years I would sit on my patio taking in the beautiful site of the Griffith Observatory. There is nothing like it in Los Angeles. Well, not so true. From my vantage point, if I turn my head a few inches to the east, I see Frank Lloyd Wright's "Ennis House" built in 1925.

This is not only an architectural landmark, but it's also a savored piece of Los Angeles history - and it's of course in my backyard. People ask me all the time why I want to live "all the way over there" and it's quite simple. Where else in a city this big can you be close to the 101 and 5 freeways, the nation's largest city owned public park, a world-renowned observatory, walking distance to a classic concert venue, footsteps to a hip and thriving village community, surrounded my million dollar homes in the hollywood hills, and last but certainly not least, dozens of architectural masterpieces?

I have never loved living in a location as much as I do now. When the day comes to buy my home, I can only hope it's nearby, because there truly isn't anything like Los Feliz, CA 90027. If you don't believe me, come over and see for yourself!

Here is a link to the LA Conservancy's newsletter on the completion of the Ennis House. It was completed this past month. It was heavily damaged in the '94 Northridge quake and the heavy rains of 2005. I hope you can appreciate it's beauty as much as I do every night when I get home. And, if you ever want to hike up to it, there is a great set of stairs to do so. It's well worth it!

Have a great September!

HAPPY FRI DAY-DAY!

is it me or has this been the hardest past couple of weeks? i can see why i would think that. i mean, having to complete and present two major plans to my boss, my accident, and now tonight after work i am pickin up my new car! i am more excited about this because of the deal i got. wheelin' and dealin' is in my blood. no doubt.

i am very sad that my old girl was put to rest at the salvage yard this past monday. i guess $25K worth of damage wasn't worth fixing. so onward and upward mmkay!?

so i am looking forward to this weekend. there is a lot going on but can't seem to decide what to do. tonight at the barnsdell park there is Shakespeare in the park. or, dancing at a hip hollywood club. whatever i end up doing, i will be enjoying beverages as i do not have to get up for any reason in the morning.

oh, today is the official kick-off of my birthday. i have deemed this event "30 to 30" where as i will turn 30 in 30 days from today. hard to believe huh? i know a lot of people thought i was turning 23 or something.

anyway, what this kick-off means is that i will be doing something to celebrate my birthday everyday until my actual day. that way, when everyone forgets the actual day, if anyone remembers or wants to do something with me beforehand, then we can and it will count. it's out of character for me to say this, but, i am making this all about me for once because, well, a couple of weeks ago i looked death in the eye. it sounds dramatic - something i know nothing about. but really, it made me realize how lucky i am to be alive. i want to focus my energy more on celebrating life rather than stressing about it. i can't change the past or always predict the future. so it's up to me to live my life the best that i can today. want to come along for the ride? i will drive safely.... promise!

happy friday honey's.

tofu fest was a bust yet again

for five years i have made the trip down to little tokyo in downtown LA to go to the annual tofu festival. the funny thing is, i have never actually been!

every year something has come up, i was out of town at the last minute, put the wrong date on my calendar, or just got there too late.

this year robin, taku, wyla and i got there at 4:30. after taking about an hour to find parking, we got to the admission booth to buy tickets (discounted of course thanks to mamamoto) and they told us it was closing at 6 pm!!!! DAMN IT!!!!!!!!! again i missed this event. i just couldn't believe it. all i could do was laugh, yet still be pissed off.

we ended up staying to watch the parade. it was very long and boring at times but the finale was fantastic! there was a large lantern all the way live from japan. it was beautifully lit and took a gang of people to carry it down second street.

at 8:30 we were starving and of course every japanese restaurant in little tokyo was packed so we settled for Leela Thai on Silverlake bear the reservoir. i don't remember the last time i felt that tired. oh, it was probably the week before after my accident. but that was because of the vocodin and the naproxen. mmkay!?

here's to tofu fest '08!

i am lucky to be alive.

hello-
it's been some time since my last entry. it's been a very hard, stressful couple of weeks. finally the light at the end of the tunnel that everyone speaks about is really coming visible.

on friday night, august 10 (really saturday august 11 at 1 am) i was driving home from a friends house in west hollywood and got in a bad car accident.

i'll explain what happened here for those who are interested and those who already know, if asked, can say to go here and read it.

i was driving home and a car started merging into my lane. when i honked my horn, i had thought the other driver heard me and went back into his lane. as i continued singing my tunes, the next thing i knew he was back in my lane and before i can breathe, i panicked, jerked the wheel instead of away from him, to the right and slammed into him. at 35-40 miles per hour, my car bounced off him and flipped over on its side. as the car was sliding down santa monica blvd in the opposite lane of oncoming traffic, airbags started deploying. one after another. at least 12 went off. blowing out a window or two. sparks flying next to my head as i was on my side. when the car finally came to a stop, i was able to climb out of the sunroof and get to the sidewalk.

for those who know that area (santa monica blvd between la brea and highland), there is a lot of traffic in that area. lucky for me it was a quiet late night. had it been an hour earlier, according to LAPD, i wouldn't be here typing this right now.

i escaped everything with a pretty good bang to the head, a scrape on my left arm, and a completely totaled car. according to my insurance, there was $25,000 worth of damage. i took some pictures last week but they just don't give it justice. you can see them here:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/76228047@N00/. the hot sun made it hard to get details and unfortunately it doesn't show as well int he photos. but it will always be fresh in my mind.

the good news is that i am pretty much back to normal. still having head pain. still having minor memory lapses (what's new right?) and i will have a new car by this friday. i went with the same car again because although there was substantial damage, it did it's job by keeping me safe and alive. talk about a true testimonial! (i decided to get black with black leather as the beige leather was getting dirty after only 5 months and my bike kept suffing up the back).

well there you have it. my cat scan, x-rays, everything is okay. a slight concusion and a bruise with a few scrapes is all i have to show. not bad.

thank you to those who immediately offered to take care of my and come help me the four or five days i was laid up at home. it's good to be back at work. my hair is growing out (shaved my head again) so i guess i am doing fine.

that's all on this post. i have a few more to write to get caught up. have a great week!

I'm and UNCLE AGAIN!

boys and girls and everything in between...

i am happy to announce that on monday evening at 9:29 pm i became an uncle again! my sister had baby #3, or as we would normally call her by name, Natalya Fern Strubing.

i am not sure where the name natalya came from, but her middle name Fern was my grandmothers name. she passed away suddenly in the summer of 1992 so i am delighted that they named their third AND FINAL child after her.

that's all on that. i hope to get up to santa cruz at the end of august to visit everyone. this summer has been crazier than i expected. nothing to complain about (for once) but as usual time is flying by. and it's now only weeks until i turn 30, not months. : (

ciao

he's a real piece of work, a good piece. because we had a great time. and sorry for dropping my drink on your foot. i hope you didn't get any glass in it when the glass shattered.

I am getting old or tire easily these days

What a nice weekend. It was non stop. I felt as if I didn't rest at all. Saturday started early in preparation for Wyla's 1 year bday! What a great party. I was so pleased with the turnout, the spread, everything. The weather was beautiful, the patio was decorated so lovely. When I get the photos up I will add a link. That baby is just too cute I can't stand it.

My Sunday was just as lovely, but more about ME! Shona, Andy, KLowe and myself enjoyed a lovely brunch cruise around the marina. Free-flowing Champagne and buffet. They screwed up my reservation of course so we had two tables on the end with open windows. It was just perfect. Andy was on his best behavior (KLowe was too) and I didn't overeat or indulge in the sweets at the dessert table. It wasn't cheap, but definitely something I can do once every couple of months.

We went to costco after and spoiled outselves even more!

Last night was dinner in Little Tokyo. Robin's friends were down from San Luis for the weekend so we all had a tasty meal at OO Masa (sp?) - you know what i say, "You don't spell it son, you eat it!"

Happy Monday! It was so nice to wake up to RAIN this morning. Where in the hell did that come from? Although short-lived, it was nice. I do feel really exhausted today. Back to work blues. Makes me feel so old... in a good way of course!

Friday the what?

didn't we already have a friday the 13th twice this year? three times is not a charmer. should we all be scared. thunderstorms in L.A. this week, the massive heatwave, scary fridays, bastille day...

nothing to write about today - so here's some breaking news

SoCal Brush Is So Dry Even Goats Won't Eat It

LOS ANGELES -- A record lack of rainfall in Southern California has left brush and grasses so dry that they're even unappetizing to the brush-clearing goats.
Fire officials say it's the first time in years they can't use goats to help clear hillsides to prevent brush fires. The region has had so little rain that goats wouldn't get much nourishment from brittle brush.
Goats are used by many fire agencies to eat through underbrush. They're especially helpful in areas where controlled burns are too risky or terrain is too difficult for humans to navigate.

In May, even the Getty Museum brought in goats to help clear the brush around the grounds.
And just last month, residents rounded up a herd of goats that wandered into the Mountaingate area. Maybe the grass seemed greener there :)

party was a success!

i can't believe it's humpday already. i haven't even had a chance to write and i worked from home two days this week. amazing.

anyway, the party on sunday was great. the food was awesome, the drinks were endless, and the people were happy. i even got to use the patio heater.

happy bday scottie! and thanks to all who came to celebrate and unwind on a lovely sunday summer evening.

so so so ready for the weekend!

even with the 4th of july holiday i feel like this week will never end. i am excited for my weekend. it started out with nothing to do. my initial plan was to take all of my screens off and clean them. luckily adriana invited me to a bbq tomorrow afternoon. before that i'll be out shopping for the party on sunday. that's right. i am having a party for my friend scott at my place. need to get some propane uh-kay!?

sunday robin and the baby will go to the pasadena flea market in the morning. very excited about that. i might even find a dining room table. then of course the party is in the evening. i hope the weather is nice.

oh tonight is some play that my big queen i mean friend jessee (aka the red queen) told us about. so i'll be picking up shona and andy along the way. we can't seem to figure out what to do for dinner which is disturbing.

have a great weekend.

early out!

oh boy oh boy! the partners have blessed us with the gift of an early out today. i get to go home at 3:30! the question is, does a true entrepreneur just go home at 3:30? NO! i'll be working in the car, when i get home, during dinner, in bed.

it is what it is uh-Kay!?

happy early 4th of July! I think my next post will be before the weekend. It's Scotty's bday party this weekend (yours truly will be hosting).

i feel ill

maybe it was just a long week, but i am so ill today. actually, i was pretty ill yesterday and today i am still trying to get back into the swing of things.

so anyway, BINGO was fun on wednesday night. i got to see the whole MZA crew, old and new. went to the abbey after with scott and austin and a few others. that was nice. then we went to "here" and ran into my friend allan. oh what a night. i don't remember how i got home, what time i got home, but i know i wasn't out late because i was in bed by 12:30 am.

why do i speak of all of this? well, because when i turn 30 in a couple of months, i see that i can't drink as much as i used to. and that's not a bad thing!

have a great weekend people. i know i will. another weekend of relaxation. i so need it.

don't leave home without it! - your wallet

as if my days aren't stressful enough, i lost my wallet yesterday. no stacy, I WAS NOT ROBBED! lol

Robin, baby Wyla and i went on a hike monday night and i left my wallet in my shorts. i even threw them in the hamper. what's the point to this story?

well, yesterday i had the dent guy coming to my office to take care of a dent on the back of my car. (more on him later). i realized that since i didn't have my wallet, i couldn't pay him. and who carries checks anymore??? not me. so my dear friend who shall remain nameless allowed me to transfer money to her account and then i would use her ATM card to withdraw it. of course that didn't happen the right way. it was probably an hour long stressful situation that could have been prevented. but i was so freaking out that he was coming at 1 pm and i didn't have the money to pay him!

in the end, it worked out. at 3 pm i was able to get the cash (i won't explain why) and the dent guy showed up at 4 pm!!! he almost didn't come and wanted to reschedule. until i told him what i went through to get the money. so he showed up and less than 40 minutes later made my car look like new again.

this is no joke. i am so incredibly impressed by the work. you can't even tell there was ever a dent on my car. (for those of you who don't know, i've had my car for three months now and after having it four weeks, i came back from florida and there was a dent on the back left rear panel. the dent guy thinks some asshole in a hummer backed into me, but i don't see how that's possible, but whatever.)

so, to anyone with some minor dents, dings, window cracks, etc, call my new friend "Rich" at "DentsOut Plus" www.dentsoutplus.com and tell him you heard about him from brandon.

many of you know that i am a business man. and the best way to get business is by referrals. i always say to have your customers market your business for you. it's better than promoting yourself, like everyone else does. i can't praise this guy enough for the work. it has stressed me out for two months now and i think i was able to sleep like a cherub last night. special thanks to V-star for recommending him to me.

happy hump day! BINGO at Hamburger Mary's tonight!!!! WHOO HOO!!!!!

Thank you RIO! What a nice weekend

Special shout out to DJ RIO! for an excellent and most memorable time at the Hollywood Bowl last night.

After coming off the excitement of my company BBQ, I was geared up for a night under the stars at KCRW's World Music Festival: Featuring DJ Shadow, Cut Chemist, Carlinhos Brown, Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars.

I've said it before and i'll say it again, the only way to go to the bowl is on the big white suttle bus. best $3 you'll ever spend. we were armed with fruits, cheeses, meats, good wine, dessert in our swanky picnic baskets. I thought the boxes we had before were great. Our private box last night was HUGE and we had it all to ourselves. we set up our tables, laid out our spread, and went to town. As soon as i can figure out how to transfer video from my phone to this i will because it was truly a fantastic evening.

That being said, i think i have reached my alcoholic quota for the month. So no happy hours this week. Sorry SALINAS! : )

Monday Motivation

This Week’s Motivation:

One today is worth two tomorrows; what I am to be, I am now becoming.
-Benjamin Franklin

I've always loved this quote.

To me, it says three things:

Today is important. Make the most of it.

Pay attention to how you spend your time. Your actions, your habits -- they define you.

We're all students in life. We all have the opportunity to learn and grow and become something more than what we are.

How are you going to make today count? Is this going to be a day you'll be proud to look back on?

Does someone have a case of the Mondays???

PS-if you don't know wegner, this probably isn't for you.

another power-packed weekend

i thought i wasn't going to be so busy after the ride? whatever.

i can't wait to pick up my new patio heater tomorrow. i have been wanting one for months and now i can grill on a chilly evening with all of the warmth my little heart desires.

tomorrow night my dear lesbian, sorry, friend adriana will be having her 31st bday party. there isn't really anything special about her being 31, but since i was in new york last year and missded the big 3-0, i am just as excited as i would have been this year.

sunday is my firm's "SUMMER OF FUN" BBQ. this will be a riot. think of an episode of "the office" when they all went to the beach. that will be us. except many will think it's some beach in china and there will be pony rides. lol

the best part of the weekend will be the KCRW World Fest with RIO! i am so honored to be her guest.... and have a box seat of course.

cheers! happy summer! happy freakin friday!!!!!

Project Angel Food's Hollywood Walk To Deliver

this sunday is the innaugural Hollywood Walk to Deliver benefitting Project Angel Food (www.angelfood.org).

this monumental event will take hundreds of walkers from their current location on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood to their new home on Vine, between Melrose and Santa Monica.

sticking to my guns about cutting back on my "doing everything for everyone" this year, i have decided NOT to participate. i even asked my friend pamela if i should feel guilty and she said "HELL NO!" so i don't.

if you haven't given money to charity in a while and feel the need to, i have a pretty good list, but start out by sponsoring someone at www.angelfood.org.

(this sunday is our firm's annual "Summer of FUN" party." this outta be good. stay tuned for my commentary on sunday evening.) lol

KCRW rocks!!!

last night was the annual angel donor party for KCRW at the Hammer museum in Westwoood. nicole and i got dazzled up (with a pre-party cocktail) and hit the plaza! it was really a great set up. much nicer than the past two years. the food was absolutely amazing. the open bar was sub-par. absolute was the vodka sponsor and they only had that new pear vodka. if you really want to know my opinion (since i am a vodka connoisseur) i thought it was awful. i am an "absolute" fan of, well, absolute vodka, but this pear crap didn't pass my test.

special thanks to my buddy john and also nicole for the wonderful company.

don't listen to KCRW? if you live in Los Angeles or the surrounding communities, shame on you! become a member today, or better yet, wait until their semi-annual subscription drive coming up in August. visit www.kcrw.com for more info. on the FM dial at 89.9.

special announcement!

after 30 years of planning, i have decided to write a book on my life. many of you are probably thinking "why?" "what's so special about it?" - many things. for instance, my family, jobs, events that have shaped me to be who i am today. very funny stuff.

the feedback on the preliminary planning has been very positive and i am eager to start writing. (i mean taking the 1000's of post-its and transcribing then to paper.)

if you would like to know more, or can recall an event that you feel shouldn't be overlooked, let me know. all names in the book will be under an alias - meaning i don't need permission from anybody. muahahahahahahahaha!

Griffith Park fire update

as many of you know the devastaing fires that tore through the los feliz area forced me to evacuate for two days. it was a trying time for me and the people in the hollywood hills.

some of you also know how hard this whole thing has been on me as the park is my backyard and i try to spend as much time there as possible: weekend picnics/BBQ's, a trip to the zoo, the autry museum, evening walks up to the greek theatre for a show, the renowned observatory, and of course, riding my bike. griffith park was a regular meeting place for weekly ALC training rides.

the city of los angeles has created in conjunction with the department of parks and recreation a fund to help re-build and restore the park. interested parties can view the blog on that project here: http://lagriffithpark.blogspot.com/. Also, in September there will be a series of benefits at where else: the GREEK theatre. The goo goo dolls rescheduled their 6-19 show so they can participate in it. All proceeds go to the fund.

take a read. it's worth it. for those who are unfamiliar with the park, it is the largest urban municipal park in the USA. there are so many things you can do there. check it out.

could i be a vegan?

i had a lovely dinner on saturday night at this some-what new place called grean leaves. it's a vegan place on hillhurst in los feliz village. i had the fried chicken dinner with spring rolls. i also at some of taku and robin's dinner.

i over ate naturally and was ill afterwards. i think i am not supposed to process a lot of soy. maybe it's all mental.

but the place was good. go there. good price and good service.

okay don't get too excited folks. i am in need of an assistant at my office. if you know of anyone who is out of school for the summer, has a trust fund and just needs to work and money isn't the priority, then i have a job for them. please let your friends/contacts know that i have a position i need to fill by the end of the month. it's a temp position but if it works out it could be permanent.

thanks for your help. happy friday!

ciao for now.

i am over LA traffic

so ya okay i overslept this morning. big deal. wait. it is. instaed of leaving home at 7 am this morning, i left at 8:15. so, instead of pulling into the building at 7:45, i got in at 9:15. riddle me that batman?!

why does it take 26 miles roundtrip a day to get to and from work? many keep telling me "you need to take olympic", "you should take wilshire", "you need to..." - okay i get it. but what these people don't get is, the time it would take to get to those fabulous streets would take just as long as me sitting on sunset.

i guess i'll have to deal with it.

this weekend i have nothing planned. i can't stand it. i am so excited. i wanted to go to san diego (but after further thought realized that won't work). i hope to do a bike ride saturday morning (ya i said it) then sunday a hike to the observatory with robin, taku and wyla. if we are lucky, maybe even dim sum after. yum! better yet, hollywood farmer's market!

I DON'T WANT TO WORK! I JUST WANT TO BANG ON THE DRUM ALL DAY!!!

ciao for now.

it's not just paris who has a simple life

now that "the ride" is over, i can go back to having a normal "simple" life again. evenings at the greek, the hollywood bowl, a summer play at the pantages, evening barbeques on the patio... it's been so long that i forgot what it was like. after nearly two years of working practically every weekend, to training for the ride the past seven months, what will i do now?

for those of you who don't know, i just completed the AIDS lifecycle which took place june 3-9, 2007. see more here: www.aidslifecycle.org/1656. what an experience. i am so glad i did it, although i did bitch about it every chance i got.

just like any presidential contender, i have decided to hold off until december to make my announcement on whether or not i will do it again. that is, if my donors will come through for me yet again!

there are more important things to tend to in the meantime. like my 30th bday in september!

ciao for now

The premier!

greetings! i have finally decided to do this whole blog thing. due to the fact that time is of the utmost importance, i couldn't think of a better way to communicate with my friends and family where i can touch base periodically.

the older i get the less time i have and also the less time the people around me have. couple the fact that everyone around me seems to be moving away and it just makes sense to use this new-age tool of communicating. so, write down this address and bookmark it: http://sirdebo.blogspot.com.

be sure to check back often. i am not saying i'll be here everyday updating it. that is wishful thinking!

ciao for now
